Potsdam, September 20th 2007 - Welcome...

... to the new, ad-free home of MONKEYS of DOOM!

But straight to some real news: Due to the clever guys at >Doom3world.org I found the proper technique to run HWMoD on: It's >ioquake3, a tuned version of the Quake3-engine.

Check out the >other cool projects done with it!

>top

Potsdam, September 4th 2007 - "CHEESEMOON"...

... is latest and last of the sceneries MONKEYS of DOOM will play in! Hope, fans of Giant Sequoias aren't too disappointed...

Screenshot from the stand-alone game on the Quake-III-engine (click on the image for a larger view)

... but this one is set on cheesy moon.

Could take some time till I release something playable again, because next on the list is a four-map demo version of

STAND-ALONE

"HERR W's MONKEYS of DOOM"!

For those who want to bring in their own HWMoD-style maps, just >send me an email, and I'll provide the scenery you need.

... And just to mention it again: No commercial use of any of these without my permission!

Potsdam, August 28th 2007 - MGIB-GIB's MAZE, 2nd Blood...

... - Done! I'm making unexpectably good progress in redesigning the basic sceneries! Number three of four is finished and - I think - doesn't look too bad as well, especially for people who like cheesy moons. But judge for yourself:

Screenshot from the stand-alone game on the Quake-III-engine (click on the image for a larger view)

So, only one left before I can start filling these places with life and death and make good, funny playgrounds of doom of them...

What do you think about something with Giant Sequoias?

>top

Potsdam, August 16th 2007 - BERMUDA BYTES reloaded!

Don't you dream of playing around on a nice sunny beach instead of wasting another summer day staring at your monitor?! - Thanks to HWMoD you soon can have both!

Screenshot from the stand-alone game on the Quake-III-engine (click on the image for a larger view)

It's part 2 of my plan to redesign the three basic sceneries (Skylands, Bermuda Bytes and Mgib-Gib's Maze) for the Quake3-engine and add a fourth, which I haven't thought out yet. Maybe something in a jungle...

The HWMoD-experts among you will have noticed that the redesigned maps offer much more eye candy than the old!

Potsdam, August 8th 2007 - Vacation?!

- Not in monkey business! Remember that I announced something like sst13's ">Floating Stonefaces" one month ago?

Well, here comes the first picture of the baby:

- Isn't it a beauty?!

>top

Potsdam, July 30th 2007 - Nice to see you...

... here at T-POSE ™ Creations, new home of "Herr W's MONKEYS of DOOM", a place where you won't be bothered by any ads but mine!

(For those who like ads: I keep the >gamespy-site up-to-date as well).

Potsdam, July 8th 2007 - Check >this out!

(click on the image for a larger view)

- Done?! It's one extra-cool example of how a Q3 toon-arena can look like, and it's brought to us by my nice collegue >sst13.

I love the idea of those floating islands and think you can exspect something "inspired" by it in the next HWMoD-map...

But enough said: Download that great piece of toon and invite Mr. Monkey for some coconuts!

Straight in his face!

PS: I decided to concentrate work on the stand-alone version of Q3-based "Monkey Kombat Arena". So it's most likely that there'll be nothing new for the Doom3-modification during the next couple of weeks:-(

>top

Potsdam, June 17th 2007 - "The Bob-Joke"(TM)...

There is a cool new review on >Games Radar!

"Stop playing uber-realistic games!"

... it says. You heard it? Then do so!

BTW: If I had to review a review, this one would gain an extra "*", cause the author, Steve Williams, is the first I know of who made it to "The Bob-Joke"(TM), a medium-funny gag I hide somewhere on these websites... - Found it?!

Potsdam, May 28th 2007 - Mapper Wanted!

If you've always thought, Doom3 is great but could be a bit brighter, funnier and cartoonier sometimes, more like what you see when you look around here...

... And you are good at making highly addictive multiplayer-maps*, you might want to join the team of

"Herr W's MONKEYS of DOOM"!

So, if you want, please >send me some links to maps you've made and write a few sentences about yourself!

(*Important is that they have an interesting layout and are well balanced, i.e. they are great to play! Not that they look especially fancy or have thousands of details, cause they'll be stripped of that anyway when being cartoonized;-)

Potsdam, May 18th 2007 - Monk-Wik-ey

To make myself finally famous and the gamespy-servers smoke, I infiltrated >Wikipedia with some monkey-propaganda. - Let's see if it works...

>top

Potsdam, May 4th 2007 - Gesägt, getutet...

... wie >Onkel Hotte immer so schön sägen tutete! (No idea how to say that in English)

Here it is:

>"Mgib-Gib's Maze"!

... The brand-new place for cartoon-monkey hunting action!

Get into the labyrinth, grab yourself some bananas and observe the cartooney beauty of a swinging moon!

But beware of fine young cannibal Mr. Mgib-Gib! He's gonna throw skulls at you till your own drops to the floor!

>top

Potsdam, April 18th 2007 - Hm ...

... seems as if some folks out there disagree with my idea to cancel that Doom3-thing.

Okay, you are the bosses, so we're gonna have another cartooney fragfield of doom! Right now I think of something PacMan-like, with a maze and a horde of monkeys hunting after you.

- Can take some days of course...

>top

Potsdam, March 20th 2007 - Bad news everyone...

... especially for those who are waiting for new HWMoD-maps: I think there won't be any :-(

That's because - and for good reason - no one is interested in singleplayer-games anymore, me included.

So from now on this little project will evolve in two directions:

One: Waiting for someone creating waterphysics for one of the more multiplayer-friendly games on the Doom3-engine (Prey, Quake4, QuakeWars)...

Two: ... Picking up the work on the "Bermuda Bytes"-adventure. I think I have some pretty nice ideas for a story, including monkeys, islands... - and maybe a doomed zombie-pirate or so;-)

- Watch out!

>top

Potsdam, February 16th 2007 - Say "Guten Tag"...

... to a new member in our frag-happy family, fine young cannibal Mr. Mgib-Gib!

You can download him now from the >mod-it-yourself -section and watch him bombing you with cartooney skulls in one of your own maps or wait for his appearance in the upcoming fragfield of doom,

"Escape from Mgib-Gib Island" (TM)!

>top

Potsdam, December 19th 2006 - Feuerbachstrasse...

is the new home of our monkey-business. But make shure to have some bananas and beer with you before you start for an expedition. - Still no admittance here without!

Potsdam, November 20th 2006 - The future is green ...

Q3-time is over folks! There was nothing new for "Herr W's Monkey Kombat Arena" the last few month and there wont be anything in the future. I hope you care as little as me, cause we all look forward to what will happen on the Doom3-engine, right?!

The relaunch of this site brings one major change: The >mod-it-yourself section. I recently had an idea, and it's the laziest of all: Why don't let YOU do the work?!

All you need to know to put together a nice, sunny fragfield is written down for you in the >forum, while a peaceful waving ocean plus a shiny sky, some islands and any number of monkeys you want can be grabbed from the >prefab page.

It also could be helpful to make yourself familiar with the basic design-concept before you start. Everything and even more than you want to know about it can be found where?! - In the >about section of course!

All works will be available to the masses under >files, newest on top, for good tips and technical help visit the masterminds of >Doom3World.org or find all problems I bothered them with so far gathered in the >forum.

Have fun!

>top

Potsdam, November 16th 2006 - ACHTUNG: ALPHA!

You may have noticed the big, endlessly loading banner to the right... It points to the files section, where a small new testmap for Doom 3 waits to be downloaded by you. Don't expect the greatest gameplay of your life, but a good impression of how things will look in the final mod.

And please >report bugs! You surely will find some...

>top

Potsdam, October 25th 2006 - The nude and the drunken dude...

... are back again! I noticed that the link to the "Bermuda Bytes" building-site was broken (- none of you told me!). But now everything should be back in place.
